I'm currently taking a genetic algorithms course and enjoying it a lot. I've always wanted to understand this side of AI, particularly on how these techniques can be applied to generate true intelligence. Currently learning the basics of genetic algorithms and if lucky, a bit of genetic programming. I hope to press on and understand the basics of: Neuroevolutive computing which deals with genetic algorithms to train neural networks. Gene expression programming which deals with programs that write programs. |

So far I've been using Python more and more for computer science related activities. My hate and disdain for Matlab continues as I'm amazed by the huge amount of libraries and utilities available for free on the Python environment and I've slowly become enamored with the clean coding that can be achieved with this language.
I'm currently working on a huge GUI made with Python and the delay in performance is not noticeable compared to the chore it would have been to program it on something like C/C++ (and I tried that already...). If I had to say which language to use I would say: -Python for prototyping and automation goodies. Amazing at scientific computing. -C/C++ for high performance time consuming applications. Preferably as inner logic to Cython. -Processing for eye candy and embedded apps. Preferably to beginner programmers. -Javascript for HTML back and frontend. https://impythonist.wordpress.com/2014/01/22/20-python-libraries-you-cant-live-without/ Another year comes upon us, another year goes by... For now I must absolutely finish the thesis. Currently engrossed on Natural Language Processing (NLP) which aims to make machines understand the written word and derive meaning from context and language. Here's some material that may be useful. Sadly too much I want to do, too little time...
